Președintele Comitetului Olimpic și Sportiv Român Mihai Covaliu și secretarul general George Boroi s-au întâlnit la Palatul Victoria cu premierul României Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
Discuțiile purtate în 20 martie 2023 au fost axate pe mai multe teme, prioritate având stadiul pregătirilor și calificării pentru Jocurile Olimpice Paris 2024. Organizarea în bune condiții a participării la competiții și pregătirea sportivilor din loturile olimpice au fost prezentate premierului Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
”Mulțumim pentru sprijinul Guvernului. Toate eforturile noastre comune sunt pentru a asigura sportivilor români condiții optime de pregătire și colectivelor tehnice tot ceea ce este nevoie! ” a punctat Mihai Covaliu, președintele COSR.
Premierul României a asigurat conducerea Mișcării Olimpice de sprijin pentru Echipa Olimpică Team Romania.
“Fiind un an preolimpic, eforturile noastre trebuie concentrate și mobilizate astfel încât, pe de o parte, să putem avea o delegație sportivă cât mai numeroasă la Paris, dar și să creștem totodată șansele de a obține performanță, cât mai multe medalii pentru România”, a declarat prim-ministrul Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
Conducerea COSR a prezentat calendarul competițiilor de calificare organizate în acest an, inclusiv participarea sportivilor români la Jocurile Europene Cracovia-Malopolska, organizate în Polonia, în perioada iunie-iulie, la care vor participa peste 150 de sportivi români.
Totodată, a fost prezentat stadiul proiectului modernizării Complexului Olimpic ”Sydney 2000” de la Izvorani, care va primi finanțare prin Compania Națională de Investiții, având capacitatea de a oferi anual o bază de pregătire la standarde internaționale pentru mii de sportivi de performanță, din peste 20 de discipline olimpice și neolimpice.

The President of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Mihai Covaliu, and the General Secretary George Boroi met at Victoria Palace the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
The discussions held on March 20, 2023 were focused on several topics - priority is the stage of preparations and qualifications for Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Team Romania’s participation to competitions in good conditions and the training of athletes from the Olympic teams were subjects discussed with Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
"We are thankful for the Government's support. All our joint efforts are set to ensure optimal training conditions for the Romanian athletes and everything needed for the technical teams!" pointed out Mihai Covaliu, president of COSR.
The Prime Minister of Romania confirmed to the management of the Olympic Movement his support for Team Romania Olympic Team.
"It’s a pre-Olympic year and our efforts must be focused and prepared so that, on one hand, we can have a sports delegation in Paris as large as possible and also increase the chances of achieving performance – to gain as many medals as possible for Romania", said Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă.
ROSC management presented the calendar of the qualifications in all competitions this year, including the participation of Romanian athletes in the Krakow-Małopolska European Games, organized in Poland, between June and July, in which more than 150 Romanian athletes will participate.
At the same meeting, the stage of the modernization project for "Sydney 2000" Olympic Complex from Izvorani was presented, which will receive funding through the National Investment Company. The Sports Center offers the ability to annually provide a training base at international standards for thousands of performance athletes, from over 20 Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines.
